HR director snaps up prestigious industry award

Shakespeare Martineau's HR director has been recognised for her contribution to the success of the firm at a coveted industry awards ceremony.

Victoria Tester was named ‘Business Services Leader of the Year’ at The Lawyer’s Business Leadership Awards for the role she played during the firm’s merger. Described as ‘the real deal’, she was also commended for her implementation of the Shakespeare Martineau Academy, an internal academy that nurtures existing and up-and-coming talent by offering professional and personal development courses.

The annual awards showcase and celebrate law firms and how their leadership has adapted and evolved to deal with client demand and industry-wide changes. Over 500 legal market professionals attended this year’s event, which was held at the Brewery in London on Wednesday 28th September.

Andy Raynor, CEO at Shakespeare Martineau, said: “Victoria is and always has been a huge asset to Shakespeare Martineau and this award win is testament to her commitment to driving the firm and our people forward.

"The Academy is just one example of the many initiatives Victoria has helped put in place to grow and support our existing and new talent and we look forward to seeing our people continue to thrive under her leadership.”

"We’re delighted to be at the beginning of a partnership between two teams who share the same winning spirit and focus on supporting talent to achieve their potential. Everyone here has a great sense of pride and excitement to be working with Team England – a team that, after all, reflects just how much can be achieved by a diverse and varied group of individuals all focused on one goal. We can’t wait to get started."
