Shakespeare Martineau strengthens link with Multilaw with new hire

Jon Heuvel, employment law partner and Global Chair of the Employment Practice Group for Multilaw, joins Shakespeare Martineau.

Jon specialises in all aspects of employment law including complex employment tribunal and High Court proceedings for employers and employees across a range of industries and sectors with an impressive portfolio that spans hotels and restaurants, regulatory bodies, educational establishments, recruitment and temporary workers.

Through his work with Multilaw, a leading global network of independent law firms, Jon’s expertise isn’t just limited to UK shores and a large proportion of time is spent on advising on international employment issues, in particular helping SMEs to navigate the complexities of cross-border trading.

Based in London but working across the firm’s nine offices, Jon’s hire is evidence of the firm’s commitment to invest and expand in the capital. His hire follows the acquisition of Macrae & Co LLP and an office move to bigger premises which aim to bolster client servicing through additional expertise and personnel.

Jon Heuvel, employment law partner at Shakespeare Martineau, said:

“The prospect of working for a firm that has distinctive sectors to explore and help develop is a hugely attractive prospect. As many of the firm’s sectors and clients operate globally, the need for an international skillset and connections, such as through working with Multilaw, is an area that I’m looking forward to enhancing further.

“As a result of the Brexit decision, the need for employment law services in the capital is growing, in particular across the education, hospitality and energy industry and I’m keen to get involved in supporting the existing client base and growing the employment practice further.”

Jon is also a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and is currently the chairman of the London Chamber of Commerce Skills and Employment Forum.

Michael Hibbs, head of employment law at Shakespeare Martineau, said:

“Jon brings with him a wealth of experience, connections and a network which crosses borders on a regional, national and international basis.  Jon will make a significant addition and contribution to our dynamic and expanding employment team.”

"They are very professional, respond promptly, always discuss the monthly bill and have, so far, provided us with excellent advice in connection with employment issues. I have been very satisfied."
