Solicitor named Young Professional at the FirstPro Awards 2017

Shakespeare Martineau’s Vangeya Murphy was named Young Professional at the FirstPro Awards, which celebrates the talent in Coventry and Warwickshire’s professional and financial services sector.

Vangeya took home the trophy as judges were inspired by her career journey. Vangeya was previously told that she would never make it as a solicitor and went on in 2016 to win Warwickshire Junior Lawyer Division’s Solicitor of the Year! She also impressed the judges with her skills and responsibilities both inside and out of work; she is responsible for training new qualified solicitors and trainees. Outside of work she has set up a mentoring scheme for inner-city girls aged 14-19, she is a committee member at BNI and fundraises for charities such as The Shakespeare Hospice.

Andrew Smith, head of Shakespeare Martineau’s Stratford office, said “I am delighted Vangeya has been recognised at these awards. We support all our people to be the best they can be and this award is testament to the hard work Vangeya has put in both here at the firm and also to mentor and fundraise for others.”

"We’re delighted to be at the beginning of a partnership between two teams who share the same winning spirit and focus on supporting talent to achieve their potential. Everyone here has a great sense of pride and excitement to be working with Team England – a team that, after all, reflects just how much can be achieved by a diverse and varied group of individuals all focused on one goal. We can’t wait to get started."
