Solicitor named as winner of legal category at inaugural YoungPro awards
Shakespeare Martineau’s Vangeya Murphy was announced as one of the winners at the inaugural YoungPro Awards in Coventry.
Run by the Young Professionals Network of Coventry & Warwickshire First, YoungPro celebrates the breadth and depth of talent within the region’s professional and financial services sector’s next generation of leaders.
Vangeya took home the trophy in the Legal category as judges were inspired by Vangeya’s career journey. Vangeya was previously told that she would never make it as a solicitor and went on in 2016 to win Warwickshire Junior Lawyer Division’s Solicitor of the Year! She also impressed the judges with her skills and responsibilities both inside and out of work; she is responsible for training new qualified solicitors and trainees. Outside of work she has set up a mentoring scheme for inner-city girls aged 14-19, she is a committee member at BNI and fundraises for charities such as The Shakespeare Hospice.
Andrew Smith, head of Shakespeare Martineau’s Stratford office, said “I am delighted Vangeya has been recognised at these awards. We support all our people to be the best they can be and this award is testament to the hard work Vangeya has put in both here at the firm and also to mentor and fundraise for others.”
Vangeya now automatically go through as one of the finalists in the Young Professional category of FirstPro, which celebrates the talent in Coventry and Warwickshire’s professional and financial services sector.
