Following feedback from over 300,000 clients, the rankings in Legal 500 highlight those firms who are providing the most cutting edge and innovative advice to their clients.

Here are some of the highlights from this year’s edition of the directory:

Our areas of law

52 of the areas of law in which the firm operates were ranked on this year’s list, a stellar achievement reflecting the breadth and depth of our services and market expertise.

11 of these were ranked as tier 1, a recognition of our successes within those fields and areas over the past year, and of our continued ability to provide outstanding legal advice and counsel.

Our deep market insight in education in the West Midlands and London has given the firm recognition as a top tier firm in both regions, as well as with our expertise in sports in the East Midlands.

2019 is also a significant year for our energy team and venture capital team in London, with both areas being ranked in the Legal 500 for the first time.

We continue to maintain a reputation for delivering fast, focused and cost-effective legal and commercial real estate advice, with our Nottingham and Leicester commercial property teams being recognised as tier 1 firms in their regions.

Debt recovery has continued to thrive, maintaining a tier 1 ranking for our technical expertise in all credit management and debt recovery areas. Our Lime Solicitors team, once again, has been acknowledged as a tier 1 firm for their exceptional personal injury and clinical negligence: claimant work in the East Midlands.

Our private capital offering also remains strong with tier 1 rankings for our family teams and personal tax, trusts and probate teams in the East Midlands and West Midlands.

Our people

Our people are right at the heart of everything we do, so it is excellent to see 88 of our lawyers recommended in this year’s directory.

Additionally, 11 of our people are recognised as leading individuals, an acknowledgement of their outstanding expertise within their respective fields. These individuals are Roy Botterill, Lesley Davis, Alan Hamblett, Smita Jamdar, Kendal Litherland, Andrew Mellor, Robert Rose, Mohammed Saqub, Brendan Walsh, Andrew Whitehead and Ed Wright.

Sonia Bachu, James Fownes, Kate Onions, Geraldine Swanton, Paul Wakefield and James Woolstenhulme have also been recognised as next-generation partners and three of our team as rising stars. These individuals are Sarah Brack, Ravinder Johal and Sandeep Leighs.

Congratulations all round!
