Lincolnshire-based SCS Technology Solutions has been acquired by UK SME-focused managed services provider Air IT – its 12th acquisition in four years.

Founded 30 years ago, founder and management-owned SCS Technology Solutions had built a strong reputation for delivering exceptional IT services to businesses in Lincolnshire and beyond. Air IT , set up in 2005, has 12 offices across the UK. It specialises in IT support, cloud infrastructure, and modern workplace, as well as has dedicated divisions in cyber security and business intelligence.

Air IT has acquired 12 businesses since 2020, the last of which was in July 2023 when it acquired Yorkshire-based Vital Technology Group to bolster its Microsoft skills. This latest transaction represents a strategic move to strengthen Air IT’s presence in the managed IT services sector, expanding its geographical reach and further enhancing its skillsets. For SCS, the acquisition provides the business with the chance to add more capabilities to its current offering.

Matthew Stead, managing director of SCS, said the tie-up would provide the business with the chance to add more capabilities to the offerings it took out to customers. He added: “We’ve spent the past 30 years developing and growing SCS into a successful regional business with an enviable local reputation.

“By joining Air IT, we’ll be able to offer additional technical expertise, skillsets and new exciting capabilities, while continuing to deliver the highest levels of service to our clients. We are very much looking forward to continuing our journey of growth and establishing Air IT as the IT partner of choice for SMEs in Lincolnshire and beyond.”

Acting on behalf of SCS’s shareholders, our team consisted of Michael Squirrell, Ashley Taylor and Nana Maisuradze (all corporate), Danielle Lister (employment), Huw Witty (tax), and Paul Bloomfield (commercial). Michael Squirrell , partner and head of the Lincoln office, who led the deal on sell-side legal matters, said: “We are delighted to see SCS as a well-known and highly reputable regional business built from scratch, reach such a significant milestone in its growth journey.

“SCS’s commitment to quality service delivery and strong client relationships have been integral to its success. We are proud to have supported the business throughout this transaction and played a role in the sale.”

All SCS employees will be retained, working from the same office in Lincoln without any interruption to the services delivered to its existing customers.

Paul Colcomb and Antony Voakes of Wright Vigar acted for the SCS shareholders on financial and accounting matters.
